This past Sunday our team was given the opportunity to be a part of two different church services. We preformed a skit and then a few of us shared part of our testimonies.
Right before I went up to share my story, I prayed a quick prayer asking God to give me words someone needed to hear that day. When it was my turn I went to the podium, took a deep breath, and started explaining how God brought me to the world race.
I explained how a few years ago I felt God calling me to seek Him all over the world. And then, I explained how I became scared and made His big plan smaller and smaller until it was only a six week road trip along the east coast.
Then, I talked about canceling all of those plans when mama got sick. I told them how God used that season in my life to teach me not to be afraid. That I could get through anything as long as I had Him with me.
Finally, I started telling them how I was not afraid this time when God called me to seek Him all over the world. I was excited. Then I paused, waiting for the translator, Jordan, to say this in Bulgarian.
Silence.
I looked back thinking maybe she didn’t understand and I needed to reword something. But when I looked at her, she was crying. I wasn’t exactly sure why she was crying and I didn’t really know what to do next. Someone else stepped on stage and started translating for me until Jordan was able to begin again.
I finished, walked off stage, and whispered something like, “Guys, I broke the translator…” to my team. The pastor went up and closed the service in prayer.
When the service was over many people came to greet us. Hugs were given. Well intended, but not understood, words were spoken. And then Jordan came up to me.
She told me that God used some of my words to answer her prayers. While I was explaining how it is possible to get through any situation so long as you hold onto God, she knew that God was speaking to her.
I prayed a prayer of thanksgiving and praise! I am so honored that God used me as a vessel Sunday and so excited Jordan received an answer to her prayer!
