Double digits. This is absolutely crazy. In January it seemed like we had all the time in the world. Now as we come to the end if August it feels like it is already over. We have been on three continents, only one more to go.
I’ve been trying to think of what I can do to mark these days. To make them mean more. To stay present and not be home in my head before my feet are. Then it dawned on me. My iPod.

In the first few months of the race I didn’t use it a lot. But, slowly, I have started to use it more and more as an escape. Here and there it seemed harmless, but now it feels like too much. During these last 99 days I am giving up playing any game on my iPod or watching any shows or movies. It can be used to pictures, blogging, reading on my kindle app, and email/facebook when we have internet.

I’m hoping this will give me a refreshed appreciation over the next three months for the race. I want more time to have conversations with teammates, contacts, and locals. I want to dive in more to where I am and not be able to escape or withdraw.

Only 99 days left, gotta make them count!
