My leader is the village crazy lady/grandma from Moana.

My first encounter of this was when I first met Oriolyne at training camp in Gainesville, Georgia. She was just a character full of a different kind of spirit. Good but different. (And for anyone who has not seen Moana sorry for the spoilers, but like you also should watch it because it is amazing. )

Anyway, a couple weeks ago I was talking to my leader about how the trinity can be seen in the movie, The Polar Express. This started the conversation of how she watches movies with the intention of seeing the trinity work through the lives of the characters in movies. Fast forward to February 13th (Wednesday) where we got to ask our team questions about ourself and they answer. Oriolyne asked the question, “How did you perceive me the first time you met me and how do you perceive me now?”. I immediately thought of the grandmother, also known as the village crazy lady, from Moana. After I thought about this for a few minutes it made so much more sense. I processed this in a couple different ways through a few stories leading up to that night:
1. She talked to herself on the daily. I was very worried at first because she did this out loud where we could all hear her, but it has become normal to me.
2. She dances with Jesus, but it is not normal dancing. It is wild and fun and full of no shame or fear of judgment and I love it. Picture the grandmother dancing on the beach with the waves in Moana.
3. She challenges me and does not always give me the answer, which infuriates me sometimes but makes me stronger and wiser in my walk with the Lord. This is exactly what the grandmother does with her granddaughter, Moana, so that she can see her full potential and save the island of Motunui. She does this by herself but with her grandmother’s spirit close by in the form of a sting ray.

So in summary my leader has captured the role in my life as the village crazy lady and she actually loves that I have made this realization. It makes so much sense to her as it did for me and every day I see more and more of that character in her. I cannot wait to see how our relationship is after this trip and to see the growth in myself through her help in my walk with the Lord. Thank you Oriolyne for being the village crazy lady in my life.
