In our journey with Jesus there is an invitation to come to the deep end of the pool. We though often are scared, we decide to stay in the shallow waters were things are still in our control; there is a gap between what we are experiencing and what we fear we can be experiencing. There is an invitation to take the plunge, are you all in? What does it mean to take the plunge for you? There is always some uncertainty when you take the plunge, for when you do its a step of faith and it is a costly step. You are taking a leap of faith and when you do you are saying that I want to get out of the boat and into a different world.

Let me ask you a question, what do you dream of? Do you dream of wealth, talent, comfort, power, or a happy ever after like every other American? Dreams are suppose to be unique and imaginative but here in America I feel like we all are dreaming the same dream. Then a question that I ask myself is am I dreaming from the standard of the culture or am I dreaming of the Kingdom of God?

Are we scared to dream big dreams, to let our imagination go? I feel like our imagination has become limited because we are so focused on our comforts, on how we can control our everyday situations. But, how can we control what we cannot see? We cannot see the future or for that matter what might happen in the next five minutes; so why would we want to be limited by the standards of the society that we live in? We should still dream big dreams! Dreams that create change not for just my life and world but for the rest of it.

Why am I saying any of this? Well in all honesty its a self check for myself to see if my own imagination is dead or is it alive and willing to dream big. For even the big dreams that I dream God has bigger and better ones for me. As I embark on this eleven month journey I want to dream big dreams, I don’t want to settle for small dreams that do not really evoke the dreams of the Kingdom. I know for myself I forget that the Kingdom is here already we are not waiting for it to come, because I get so stuck in the everyday life.

So let’s leave behind the small dreams and dream big for the Kingdom this year. Let’s step out of the shallow water and into the depths of the oceans and allow God to take control. Infact lets pray big too because we have not been given a spirit of timidity we instead have been given one with strength and purpose! Do not get me wrong the small prayers and dreams are vital and important too but what I am saying is lets break out of that mind set and break out of that box and let are imaginations go wild!

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline" -2 Timothy 1:7
