Every second someone is
trafficked across a border somewhere in this world. My entire
immediate family could be trafficked in 4 seconds. That’s less time
then it takes to give a Starbucks order. This crime is EVERYWHERE (including our own country). We thought slavery was abolished way back in the day… we were wrong. It is much worse now.
These victims have lost their
voices, all emotions now replaced by fear. Fear instilled in them by their
traffickers, by those who treat them like a disposable object. It’s not
a joke, it’s not to be taken lightly. Traffickers are good at what
they do, which is why they are rarely caught. This crime goes deep
into a world tied to governments, gangsters, mafia, and more. It
generates billions of dollars, and in some places is the heart of the
economy. This moneymaker has blinded humanity. It has pushed fellow
man into a dark place where they can treat others worse then an
animal. We have laws that protect animals from abuse, but this slips
the radar. Humans aren’t being protected. It’s no longer just human trafficking, it’s human slavery, rape, kidnapping, identity theft, forced labor, assault, and much more.
How do we even begin to
change this? Where do we start? Each culture has various ways of
trafficking and various ways of selling…. we have to understand
why. What has happened in each country, that this can happen in an
advanced time? My focus right now is Cambodia. I have become a part
of an amazing group of people who are seeking to find a solution….
to reach the broken. We are getting ready to send another group there
for two years to continue to penetrate this dark world. One thing
that I am looking to do is travel there on September 3, with others,
to see how we can help this group to be more successful. To research
what strategies are needed to be more effective in combating sex
slavery in Cambodia.
