At the moment I am sitting in the “Reposteria” where we eat all our meals and stay up late at night baking assorted things. Right now I’m waiting for the brownies to finish baking. ๐Ÿ™‚

We’re staying at the compound for Vision Nicaragua, located in between Chinendega and Chichigalpa, Nicaragua. Yes, that is a volcano right behind the building we call home.

Here’s one of our friends who used to live with us.
Purposefully blurry cuz I have to sleep tonight.

Right now our ministry time is varied. For four days last week we worked in the village of Bethel, painting a church. It was a fun time to actually put hands to a project and finish the day tired.

Elle and I spent a day on the gate at the front of the pic.

There were also some sweet moments of joy in the middle of the project. When water and laundry detergent were poured out so that we could “mop” and get up all the paint spots, the kids turned the entire church into a water park and slip’n’slide.

Another sweet moment was probably the same afternoon with all the kids hanging around. One of them had some fresh tortillas, which we decided to go hunting for. So we went with Esmeralda, Maria and Genesis, trekking around the village. Esmerelda and Maria holding our hands. Genesis, the five year old, usually in one of our arms. We found the tortillas, I got a short lesson on some new Spanish words, and ended up with the three of them back at the church. We hung out at the church for a while, writing words on the tile floor with our fingers dipped in the puddles of water. We wrote out everyone’s names on the tile and pronounced them in English and Espanol.

I’ve had more down time here this last week than any other country in the last nine we’ve been to. So there’s been a lot of time reading, journaling, catching up with everyone, working out. Saturday we spent here at the compound. Sunday was our off day, spent at the beach playing around with a surfboard. ๐Ÿ˜€

Today we went to a school for disabled children, saw their classrooms, met their teachers and heard about where they are in their classes. Our visit there ended with me videotaping and photographing a dance party in their arts and crafts room.

Tomorrow we’ll be helping out with a medical clinic in a nearby village, which I’m really looking forward to. Might even wear the scrubs. ๐Ÿ™‚ The end of this week will probably be some more “construction” projects in Chichigalpa. Or Chinendega.

Less than three months till arrival at home! I’m hopeful for this time we have left in this group, in these countries. More on that later. Here’s a few snapshots of some sweet moments.
