About me!
Hi!! My name is Allyson Miller and I am 22 years old. I am originally from Owosso, Michigan but am currently living in Gloucester, Virginia. I live with my parents, 2 sisters, and grandfather. I have been living in VA for about 10 years now. I work for a local company as a caregiver and personal care attendant. I like my job because I get to help older people who aren’t able to do everything on their own anymore. I also help my grandfather who has Alzheimer’s disease. He lives with our family and we all pitch in to make sure all his needs are met. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and playing fetch with my dog, Rosie. I am also active in serving at my church, Bridgepoint Church.
Life changer…
I graduated high school in 2014. I attended community college for a couple semesters and then took the Fall of 2015 off to go to Michigan and help my grandmother while she recovered from a surgery. This is when my life changed and now God is more real then ever to me. Ten days after my grandmothers surgery, we decided to go to the store. I was driving because my grandmother was not able to from the surgery. We made it two blocks away from her house when a car hit us nearly head on. Her vehicle was totaled. I suffered a broken ankle but my grandmother was badly hurt and broken up in many places. My grandmother spent a few months in the hospital and is permanently disabled due to the accident. I went into a deep depression for several months and felt like I was in a black hole that I could not get out of. I felt guilty and responsible for hurting my grandmother. One day when I was at my lowest, my mom called our pastor and then took me that same day to a christian therapist. Over the next several months that I saw the therapist, I was able to come out of my depression and let go of the guilt that I felt. God showed me during that time how much He loved me and my grandma. Even though the accident was horrible, God has been showing me that He has a special plan for my life. The accident was not a surprise to Him and it has helped me to grow in my faith and trust in Him. He can use anything for good! Maybe God will even give me a chance to be an encouragement to someone else that is hurting the way I was or at least understand what they are going through.
My passion!
I gave my heart to Jesus when I was a little girl at the AWANA program at our church in Michigan. I have been in church my whole life and have always enjoyed participating in programs and singing. I discovered my passion for missions after my freshman year of high school when I went to Honduras for a week. I have been every summer since, except one! It is the highlight of my year and something I look forward to all year long. God showed me the major needs other people in this world have that I was taking for granted. Their biggest need is for Jesus and they are hungry for it. They are so open and want to receive Him. We just have to tell them and show them! I am thankful and love that God has allowed me to have the opportunity to minister to different cultures and people. Mission work is my ultimate passion. I hope and dream to one day to become a full time missionary.
Thank you,
Allyson Miller
