In approximately 1 DAY (Monday) I will be heading up to Chicago where I will meet the rest of L Squad, and then fly out to Guatemala just a few days later. As hard as it is to leave the people I love most, I can't wait to take God’s hand and follow Him around the world and back. I know that I am walking into a land of abandonment, brokenness, and dependence, but Praise the Lord in advance for all the He is about to accomplish in and through us! Among many other emotions..the dominant one is definitely EXCITEMENT!!
After making list after list, trying to include every possible "suggestion" from WR blogs about what to pack, I finally decided to give up, pack what I have, and hope for the best. According to most of the blogs I have read, it seems inevitable that I will want things that I didn't pack, and have things that I never needed. But thats just life, right? More than worrying about needing things that I don't have, I just want to trust that the Lord will provide for the things He knows I need…which is probably a lot less than the things I THINK I need.
One of the biggest things these next 11 months will bring about is change. Change is good. Change is what I desire. If I don’t change, I can’t become more like Christ. And that is the ultimate goal. Be like Him! Imitate Him! Love Him!
SO…exciting news of the week: My entire squad will be living together for our first month of ministry! We will be in different locations throughout the day, but we will all come back to the same place in the evenings. We will sleep in tents in a fenced in compound right outside of the ministry site of Agape in Action located in Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala. The mission of Agape in Action is to serve the indigenous Mayans in the mountainous Quiche’ province of the Central Highlands by caring for their physical, spiritual, and emotional needs.
