The God of Immeasurably More
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us”
Ephesians 3:20 has been a significant verse for me. This scripture first came alive for me in college during my soccer career, which I wrote about in a previous testimony of mine,
“Not only did my team continue to have great success, but I also had tremendous individual success. In my senior season, as a defender I had 8 goals including 4 game-winning goals and the game-winning header in the BIG East Semi-final against Notre Dame. Not to mention the long list of accolades I received including 2012 CoSIDA Capital One All-American first team, 2012-13 BIG EAST All-Academic Team, 2012 BIG EAST Most Outstanding Defensive Player, 2012 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team, 2012 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, 2012 All-BIG EAST First Team, 2012 Preseason BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, 2012 Preseason All-BIG EAST, Second team All- America, First team Scholar All America, Wisconsin College Athlete of the Year Award Finalist, Senior Lowe’s Award Finalist, Marquette’s outstanding female athlete of the year, Metcalfe Senior Award Winner and was honored as Marquette’s McCahill Award Recipient.”
Again, I write this not to boast of myself, but to boast of my God and give Him all the glory, honor and praise. While this was certainly immeasurably more than I could ever ask or imagine my senior year, I’ve realized how God has always done immeasurably more and continues to do so.
From creation to sending his son Jesus to make a way for eternal life, God does exceedingly more.
While there are many other areas and times I’ve seen this verse displayed in my life, the World Race is at the top. Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen myself doing anything like this crazy 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries. I’ve always been more of a homebody and an introvert. The thought of leaving the comforts of a home, bed, privacy and alone time to trade it for a tent, sleeping bag and 24/7 community with strangers would have been out of question.
What’s more is I honestly don’t have any fears, worries or reservations about any of it. In fact, I’m excited about it all! For anyone who knows me, this is proof that God has been at work within me these last few years!
I’m thankful God is not limited by my plans, prayers and who I think I am and am not. His plans far exceed what I had and have in store for my life, and I’m going to continue to follow where He leads me.
I have a lot of hope, prayers, and dreams for this World Race journey, but I know that God is going to do abundantly more and accomplish infinitely more that I could ask or imagine. I can’t wait to experience it firsthand and be able to share all the stories with you!
It is my hope and prayer that purchasing this shirt would serve a couple purposes.
- Be a reminder that you are supporting me in fulfilling God’s calling on my life and helping to reach others for God’s Kingdom.
- This verse would become significant in your life. God has a plan for each one of us, and He wants much more for our lives than we could ever ask or imagine. God is the God of immeasurably more. Whenever prayers aren’t answered in ways you asked or your life doesn’t go according to your plans, know that His ways and His thoughts are higher. He doesn’t want to meet your expectations; he wants to exceed them. He is a good good father. He knows what is best and He has a plan for your future!
