I am stoked about this last month in South Africa! My team has been placed in Jeffrey’s Bay, which is a cute little beach town all the way at the bottom and a little east of South Africa. We are literally a couple blocks from the beach! Upon our arrival, I thought to myself, “Am I on vacation or am I here for ministry?” Just kidding! We have a JAM PACKED ministry schedule while we are here!

In J-Bay, we are partnered with a ministry called Uniting Christian Students Association (UCSA), which is a youth ministry that specializes in school visits, camps and outreaches. Their mission is to create an experience that will enable youth to get back into the Word of God and change lives through testimonies and stories.

March is their busiest month for camps, so over the next few weeks we essentially will be camp counselors for 11-14 year-olds in addition to a few school visits and outreaches!

These first few days here have been focused on training learning about facilitation and writing sermons. But starting tomorrow, we have our first community outreach and the following day a second school outreach and our first campers come (2 groups)!

In total, there are five camps and four school visits. During camps, we will be with the kids from as early as 6am to as late as 11pm; however, for the last camp we will even be spending the night with them in their bungalows. Hence our jam-packed schedule!

With that said, I do have some prayer requests!

  1.  Strength and energy for my team and the staff here. While the camps should be a lot of fun, we also know it’s going to be exhausting.
  2. The kids. It’s a lot of these students first time (and likely only time) at a camp. For some it will also be their first exposure to the gospel.
  3. Discipleship. Coming into this month, I was pumped for the opportunity to disciple youth, and I’m praying we will see some students come to Christ!
  4.  The staff and our team would have grace and patience with the kids.

Thank you for your prayers and support! I look forward to sharing all the amazing things God does this month in J-Bay!
