Thirsty: 1. in need of water, dry or parched 2. Having or showing a strong desire for something
Here in Vietnam, believers here have something we often times do without in America: thirst. Since being here, there’s been many times when people have just walked up to people on our team and asked us about the Bible. Whether to help them read it in English or just to talk about our favorite verses, they aren’t shy when it comes to God’s word.
In America, we’ve filled that thirst in other ways: busyness, material things, TV, Facebook, relationships, etc. Sometimes it happens with the best of intentions, but God becomes last on our list of things to do.
When did God become a bullet point on our to do lists?
We’re supposed to delight ourselves in His word, abide in His presence, and pray without ceasing. This doesn’t sound like a 15 or 20 minute task and then we can move on with our day. When we allow God to be part of every item on our to do lists, things change and we see Him working through us.
When you are thirsty, one sip doesn’t satisfy, and 15 minutes with God won’t refresh you either. When we let God become part of our entire lives instead of a bullet point, we’ll leave refreshed and satisfied.
I’m still in need of about $3000 to meet the deadline for the end of this month. If you’re looking for good ground to sow into, please consider partnering with me to further God’s kingdom. Thanks!
