So this month, our team is working with SOUL Cambodia. Our host and his team of thirteen got started three years ago planting churches. They saw the need for churches in the villages, so they decided to help meet that need. They now have planted 7 churches and are going to other villages to build relationships in order to share the gospel with them as well.
What does this look like practically?
This past Sunday, we started our morning at the first church then started. Held in an upstairs room, we sang and spoke about Scripture. Communion consisted of bread and grape soda. Afterwards, we grabbed lunch and then 14 of us piled into a large Tuk Tuk to go to the second church service. After an hour ride on bumpy backroads, we spread out a mat on the ground for all the neighbors to gather on. They’d only visited these people 4 or 5 times, and we were able to share the love of Jesus with them.
After this service, we started to walk to the next village where we would share with them as well. We were met halfway (or maybe less) by motorbikes that we hopped on to be taken to the village. We got to a small fishing village where we sang songs with the kids in a room on stilts. Then all the adults gathered and we got to sing and share with them as well.
It was a long day, but it was so great to go off the beaten path to share Jesus’ love with people who need to know Jesus. We are so thankful for our host who does this work all year round.
