1. What let up to this?
I am graduating from Taylor University as an exercise science major and have felt the Lord pulling on my heart to go and do what I had learned about in my time as a Christian. It all started during my time studying abroad in Uganda, Africa–I got the travel bug. Luke 12:48 says, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” God has called me to step out, lay aside my plans, and learn what it means to unconditionally say yes to all He asks of me.
2. Why does it matter?
As I’ve been praying and preparing for this trip I’ve thought a lot about our call as Christians in missions. I’ll be the first to admit that I have nothing special to offer by myself but I do know someone that has everything to offer. I’m not going on this trip because I think that I can change the world; however, I know that God is going to show up and move in powerful ways both in me and the people around me.
3. What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of most exciting things about the world race is that it’s not only a mission trip, but is also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our kingdom calling. During my 11 months, God will use our team to pray for the sick, help with construction projects, lead vacation bible schools and tell people what God thinks of them. Simply put, I’ll have an opportunity to do life with people through living intentionally. I will be traveling to India, Nepal, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Latvia, Estonia, Thailand, Burma Cambodia, and Vietnam.(Pretty awesome, right?!)
4. “How can I help?!?”
In order for this to happen I need your help and I’m excited for this chance to share this part of my life with you! The most important way you can partner with me is through prayer. I have a prayer card [CONTACT ME AND I’LL SEND YOU ONE!] and if you could hang it up on your refrigerator, wall, or bathroom mirror as a reminder to pray with me for this next year I would be so grateful.
Finally, this opportunity requires a financial investment. I need to raise $15,500 in order to go on the World Race. This covers all of my expenses on the field, including transportation, room and board, food, and the opportunity of a lifetime :). Financial support is all tax deductible and can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation for the 11 months I’ll be on the field. You can make a donation either online by clicking the “Support me” link near the top of my blog and completing your donation as instructed; or, if you would like to donate using a check, please CONTACT ME for a response card and mail it back in the pre-paid envelope!
No matter how you decide to support me I’m excited to welcome you on this adventure with me! Again, thank you all so much for being a part of my life. I honestly couldn’t do this without you! I’ll be updating my blog throughout this next year and a half if you’d like to follow along go ahead and subscribe for email updates 🙂
AND, regardless of if you read this whole thing, the one important this is, CONTACT ME! I’d love to hear from you and explain more of what I’ll be doing!
