…Is always one of the first responses I get from people when I explain to them my World Race endeavor. “Oh I could never live out of a backpack for a year/not shower/not have indoor plumbing/travel the world/be dirty/give up a year of my life/raise that much money/eat weird food…”

Okay, yes, I understand, and I don’t think I could do it either. But it’s not about me doing this or that or I can or can’t and oh my gosh that’s craaaazzzyyyyyyy…. It’s ALL about being obedient to what the Lord has called me to do… and ultimately what He has called you to do in life, whatever that may be.

Yes, it might sound extreme or strange or just really uncomfortable. But we love Jesus, I love Jesus, and ya gots ta do whatcha gotta do in what he tells ya. There was a time when I only heard of The World Race and always thought, “That’s really cool! And good for you, but I could never do that”. To be one of those people to “commit to raise a ton of money and pack for a year in only a backpack….” But it’s really not about me. I couldn’t do this on my own. I don’t know if I would ever have the courage to do something like this on my own. But it is only through Christ that I can do any of these things.

I can live out of a backpack for a year through Christ who gives me strength.

I can share Jesus without fear through Christ who gives me strength.

I can run any distance through Christ who gives me strength.

I can face the potential again of going to sleep with strange animals and insects creeping around me, but only through Christ who gives me strength.

I can leave the comforts of home, family, and friends only through Christ who gives me strength.

I can be convicted, broken, wrecked and then restored, raised, and redeemed only through Christ who gives me strength.

I can raise a crap ton of money even if it means fundraising, saving, and asking everyone I know- but only through Christ who gives me strength, perseverance, and hope.

I can eat meat again… but only through Christ who gives me strength.

I can do ALL THINGS, all of these things, through Christ who gives me strength and who is able to do immeasurably more than all [I] ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us
