So here’s the thing.
As I mentioned in my incredibly scattered stream-of-consciousness blog,
God has been stripping away a lot of lies in my life this month.
He’s also been stripping away the things I find comfort in.
And now, He’s asked me to do something I swore I’d never do.
Before the race, I would never wear my hair up because I thought it made my head look small in comparison to everything else.
Being on the race now, I still don’t wear my hair up for the very same reason.
I don’t think anyone actually likes to feel ugly,
and that’s precisely how I feel without my smooth locks around my shoulders.
I don’t exactly know why, seeing as the Creator of heaven and earth is captivated by my beauty. (Song of Solomon 4:9)
And I have been feeling more beautiful lately than I ever have in my life because for the first time, I’m actually trusting what the Father says about me.
But, the motto of the race is that there is always room for growth
So.
My beloved Daddy has asked me to shave my head so that I may understand that my beauty is not held in the eye of the beholder, unless the beholder is Him.
My beauty should be defined in Him and Him alone.
Not the things of this world.
Not to mention, in the movie Tangled, when Repunzel’s hair was chopped off it signified her freedom.
I want that freedom.
So here’s the thing.
I have $4,080.38 to raise in order to be fully funded. I need to have this money in my account by January 1st or I will be sent home from the race.
You and I both know that I am not going home,
so I thought I would make this into a fun little contest.
For those of you who are in favour of me shaving my head,
the faster I reach my fundraising goal, the sooner I’ll shave my head.
For those of you in opposition to me shaving my head,
you can have your say as well… as long as you donate.
Everyone who donates must either comment on this blog or contact me on facebook telling me if you are for or against, along with how much you donated and on which date.
The first “team” if you will, to get me to my fundraising goal wins.
=)
Let the games begin.
