Question: What do you wish you could have packed and what do you wish you could have left at home?

Answer: I wish I could have packed my bed…

No, but for real.
I love my bed more than is probably healthy.

But to answer your question in a more helpful manner…

I wish I would have brought:

 A full sized computer.
I also wish I would have brought an external hard drive to go along with said computer. It is extremely beneficial to have one to share pictures/movies/music/anything else with everyone.

A kindle, or some other kind of e-reader.
This would have made my day pack significantly lighter and would have been super helpful on travel days when all we do is hurry up and wait.

Pictures of friends and family.
I forgot to bring pictures of my family and I always felt left out when we would have show and tell times.

A pair of jeans!
I didn’t because I thought they would be too heavy and I would never wear them,
but trust me, you want to feel somewhat normal every once in a while.
I can’t wait to get me a new pair when I get home.

I wish I hadn’t brought:

My mess kit.
I ended up dropping it at the end of month 2 because I couldn’t fit it in my pack and I have never once regretted it. The little spoon/fork/knife things do come in handy though…

So many shirts!
You really only rotate through a few of them at most, and you usually buy clothing during the race anyway. I actually ended up losing a lot of weight throughout the race (upwards of 30lbs!) and have had to buy/get new clothes.

A smaller day pack.
The one I brought was GIGANTIC and could fit almost everything I owned in it.
It was awesome to have some extra space, seeing as the pack I brought is relatively small, but it also means that my day pack was pretty much just as heavy as my big pack which made me want to throw away everything I owned on travel days.

And I think that’s about it.
I didn’t really bring very much because it’s supposed to be a year of complete abandonment, right? So I brought what I thought I would use/need and didn’t really bring much else.
