You know that feeling you get when someone passes you a note? A neatly folded sheet of paper with intimate thoughts or feelings written in familiar scroll? Whether it’s a hand written letter, or a simple note reminding you that you are important to them, it makes you well up inside at the thought that they took time out of their day to write you something special. They were thinking about you, and wanted you to know it.
It’s magical.
Over the past year leading up to the race and the last four months on the race, I have been in the habit of looking for love notes that have been dropped from the sky from my Papa. They come in all shapes and sizes, and touch a different part of my soul every time. Sometimes it may be a word or phrase or lyrics that really stand out to me. Sometimes it’s someone’s facebook status or a big sign seen by the side of the road. Sometimes it’s finding sunflowers, your absolute favorite flower of life in a country where you didn’t even know they grew.
Each time I see one of these love notes, a part of my soul jumps up and down, squealing like a 15 year old girl who just got asked on her first date. It’s His way of telling me He’s thinking about me, and it is absolutely enchanting.
These are a couple of my love notes that I’ve found over the past couple days. I hope they sing to your soul as much as they do mine. It’s time to fall in love with Him again. Let it wash over you.
Oh, come, don’t be late, my beautiful joy
Come where love calls you to enjoyment
Until night’s torches no longer shine in the sky
As long as the air is still dark
and the world quiet.
Here the river murmurs and the light plays
That restores the heart with sweet ripples
Here, little flowers laugh and the grass is fresh
Here, everything entices one to love’s pleasures
Come, my dear, among these hidden plants.
Come, come! I want to crown you with roses.
I have died everyday waiting for you. Darling, don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years – I’ll love you for a thousand more. And all along I believed I would find you; time has brought your heart to me – I have loved you for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more
