Tomorrow morning my family is heading to Ireland for one of our last family vacations for at least a year because we all are growing up and getting jobs that will not allow long vacations and, well, I am heading out on the World Race for 11 months (for which I am SO EXCITED to share the love of Jesus to literally, the world)!
Serendipitously, for the first time in my life, I had convinced myself that my flight was this morning at 8:30am when it is actually tomorrow at 8:30 am. Because of this I spent all yesterday stressing out and worrying about all of the paperwork, packing, and laundry that had yet to be completed when, at the end of the day, I realized I had an additional 24 hours before heading off to the land of four-leaf clovers.
I had spent the entire week believing that Friday morning would be dreadful because I would be ill-rested from trip preparation, and here is Friday: I am sitting at the Getty Center in West Los Angeles writing a blog entry after a wonderful day of relaxation, Bible reading, and art in an architecturally beautiful structure (Richard Meier + piano curve = amazing!). It is my gift day, forgotten day, blessed day, and free day – a God-given Sabbath!
Sure, it wasn’t to my specifications and, if I knew this day existed, it probably would have gone completely different, but I love today! It reminds me again that God’s plans surpass anything that man could ever dream up. And I am thankful for that!
