We have been talking all week about how it doesn’t really feel like Christmas. It’s hot, we are far from home, etc…But , it got me thinking about what it is that makes Christmas feel like Christmas:
The last mad dash around the mall looking for the gift for that impossible person who has everything (MOM!)
Christmas cookies and candy. Grandma’s peanut clusters
Driving up interstate 75 with Mariah Carey Christmas blaring while I sing along
Christmas cookies and candy
Walking in the front door while Mom yells “Alli’s home”. Immediate sensory pleasure of hugs, warm candles, baking and Kenny G playing in the background
Buckeyes! (the candy)
Plenty of time to lounge on the coach and watch A Christmas Story over and over again.
Nut rolls, Grandma’s cinnamon rolls
Lunch dates, dinner dates, and everything in between with all kinds of family.
The warmth and glow of the Christmas tree lights
Christmas dinner, party potatoes, turkey, mashed potatoes, crab dip
Grab Bag and silly toys!
Starbucks Peppermint Mocha!
Candlelight Christmas Eve service and dinner
And of course my amazing family…it won’t be the same without you! I LOVE you all and am with you in spirit. Eat, sleep and drink double for me!
We leave at 4AM for the BEACH! Don’t you wish you were here?? We do! We should be back from Puerto Galera on Dec 31st in time for a big New Year’s party in downtown Manila.
