Lest you think it has been all sad days at the hospital this week, I thought I should share our afternoon of fun. Jessie and I have a few ladies that we visit each day and they have quickly become our best amigos!
My Spanish leaves A LOT to be desired, but that is part of the fun with these ladies. They find great joy and entertainment when I string a lot of verbs, nouns, and adjectives all together to make some kind of awkward sentence.
“Yo tienes horar para nuestros!” Allison’s version “I you have pray for ours” is the exact translation. Needless to say, I am still practicing, but heck! At least I am trying, right?? Many people are so shy they won’t even attempt it! Maybe I should work on getting a little shyness worked in there.
Anyway, we have sang songs, painted nails and pretty much exhausted all my Spanish words, so we had to pull out the big guns. UNO CARDS!!! That’s right, we taught our new friends a World Race favorite.
I truly wish you could have been here to witness as we tried to explain (in Spanish) the UNO instructions. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. We played a pretend game first while they watched and then off we went. By the time it was all over we had half the woman’s ward and all of their families either watching the madness or playing with us. Good times were had by all!
It is safe to say we brought the JOY of the Lord to the hospital that day!
Stay tuned, by this time next week who knows what we will be entertaining them with!!
