Dear Friends and Family:
Welcome to the World Race! Beginning in June 2007 I will be embarking on the journey of a lifetime, and I am asking you to play a part in the mission that Jesus has asked us all to be a part of:
“God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.
” (Matthew 28:19 Message translation)
Jesus’ final words leave no room for interpretation. In being obedient to him we are called to GO and make disciples of all nations. I have been faithful to God’s call on my life to minister to the less fortunate in my community and now God is calling me to obedience and to expand my circle of influence globally.
Through much prayer and internet searching, The World Race found me. The idea is to take a year of your life and live like Jesus lived while traveling around the world, ministering to people who need help, loving the unlovable and touching the untouched.
We will travel to 11 countries in 11 months. In each country we will partner with an existing ministry to help further the Kingdom of God. Simplicity and servanthood are the keys. When we travel, we do so cheaply and in many places we will stay in tents or wherever people invite us to stay.
The World Race has two main components:
The Race: Teams compete against each other for one or two days at the beginning of each month as they go overland to their next destination. The race is about capturing the imagination of those who need to trust God and abandon everything to follow Him. It shows the world that with very little resources, you can do amazing things if you’re trusting Him.
The Ministry: Once they arrive, teams join local partners, serving them in their ministry. Some work in orphanages, others respond to natural disasters, still others plant local fellowships that reach out to the community.
I thank God for this opportunity and trust that He will meet my needs. I would ask you to consider partnering with me financially and through prayer.
I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. My desire is to go as your representative of Jesus Christ. I hope you will prayerfully consider being part of my ministry. Thank you so much!
Ways that you can partner with me on the World Race:

Prayers: Please begin now to cover our entire team in prayer. Specifically for the hearts of those we touch to be soft. We will also covet your prayers for safety and traveling mercies. I know that many of you are Prayer Warriors and I would be honored to have you commit to praying for us. As we work out details of our route it would be my desire to have certain people pray for us in certain countries. Please let me know of any particular country that you have a desire to pray for.

Encouragement: I will be setting up a blog on the World Race web site where I will post photos and updates on our travels. Please subscribe to my blog and track the progress of our team. I will begin blogging in January so that you can follow preparations for the trip and meet my team.

Financial Support: Please pray and ask God for His wisdom in supporting me financially. It can be from $1 to $10,000! I must raise a total of $15,000 total with at least $7,500 prior to our departure in June. The remaining balance can be pledged monthly throughout the year. I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, which invites you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions. You may write “appealed by” and my name in the memo section of the check if you wish. Including the enclosed card will provide AIM with all necessary information. In turn, they will send you a receipt. All gifts are tax-deductible.

Other items: We will have needs for frequent flier mile donations, international calling cards, satellite phone/minutes, portable GPS and camping equipment.
The World Race is a radical calling from a radical leader: Jesus. Many of you share my faith and the mission of Christians everywhere to take the love of Jesus to the globe. I ask you to pray and see how God is calling you to participate in furthering His kingdom.
Some may not share my beliefs in Christ, but do believe in making a difference in the world. Please consider using the World Race as your platform to reach the untouched. I welcome your encouragement and support.
