“If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Mark 9:35
Jesus was speaking in this passage to his disciples about who would be the greatest in the Kingdom. Over and over again Jesus reiterates to his followers that they must become servants if they wanted to enter the Kingdom of God.
I have been given the opportunity by the leadership of Adventures in Missions to become a servant of all. This week they have placed me in the role of squad leader for the June racers. I am humbled and honored to be able to walk alongside my brothers and sisters for the next year.
It is not a position I take lightly and requires a lot of prayer and wisdom. Paul says in Corinthians that you should not seek out a position of leadership because with additional leadership comes additional responsibility and accountability. I know that one day I will stand before the King and have to account for how I stewarded this awesome bunch of people.
I ask for your prayers as we move forward as the June team. Along with this change for me came other team changes that were difficult to make. Please pray for all of us that we adapt quickly to our new “families and that we all submit to the plans that God has made for us. There is an amazing spirit of submission and willingness to change by all of my teammates and I am so excited about where God will take us as a squad.
Pray that lives are changed as we travel; our own lives and the lives of those we encounter along the way. Pray that the Lord is glorified in all of our actions. Pray that I truly would lead as the Lord would lead and that my attitude would echo that of Paul in 1 Corinthians 2: 1-5 :
“When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.
Thank you to all of you for giving me this awesome opportunity and the ability to learn to become a servant. It is because of YOU that the gospel of Jesus is being preached around the world.
God Bless you.
