Every Monday morning the WR staff gathers for worship, prayer and some declarations. We choose to declare the promises of God every Monday in our own lives and the lives of our co-workers and friends. A few months ago when living in MI, Kelly, my roommate, and I took to declaring promises while standing on our bed in our PJ’s. It got to be a bit of a tradition.

We now do declarations while standing on furniture. Doesn’t matter if it is a couch or a table or a bed or a table. Just pick a piece of furniture and climb up! It seems rather juvenile and silly, but it really is freeing to be a grown up and stand on furniture shouting the promises of God. Try it! 🙂
I am reading Romans this month and this morning I was praying through Romans 4. and got stuck on this verse:
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but
was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that
God had power to do what he had promised. (v. 20-21)
Paul is talking about Abraham and his radical faith. He specifically mentions that Abraham did not waver in unbelief about believing the promises of God. It got me thinking about the promises of God that I so boldly declare while standing on my bed. Do I unwaveringly belief that HE WILL PROVIDE FOR MY EVERY NEED? What about His promise to PROTECT ME in any and all situations? What about the promise to GIVE ME MY INHERITANCE?
The more that I stand on furniture and shout these things the more I start to believe them in my own heart. I want radical faith like Abraham to believe the promises of God. God literally asked Abraham to walk off his map and trust him. Most days I feel like I have been doing this for 3 years (can you believe it has been that long?!?) I have been walking to a land I can not see and do not know where it is. I have walked off my map.
And it has been completely worth it.
What promises has he made you? Are you willing to be radical in your desire not to waver in unbelief?
(If you want a copy of the declarations we make drop me an email and I will be happy to send you a copy.)
