Week two of VBS has been a wonderful surprise. We are staying at a wonderful retreat, Alabanza, that serves as a mission to missionaries. It is a place of amazing peace and we all agree that there is a very sweet spirit about everything and everyone here. We have been fed like kings and have much more space to spread out and even have real beds and hot showers!

The VBS camps have also been like night and day compared to last week. Most of the kids here come from middle class families and are very well educated at a local Christian school.

I am working with 12 year olds this week, what a difference from last week. This week I have been fielding questions about who goes to heaven, how do you get into heaven, do animals go to heaven, do I have to obey the 10 commandments to go to heaven, etc…a different challenge from last week. Most of our children speak English and have some biblical background. It has been a joy for me to have some deeper spiritual conversations and feel that I am truly making an impact on their spiritual formation.

In the meantime, we are still having plenty of time to sing silly songs, play fun games on the rec field, and eat plenty of hot dogs for lunch!
Your prayers and support are humbling to me and I feel so honored to be here and to have an impact on the lives of these kids. Each day I am here I am reminded that it is truly your support that got me here and that I am a representative of Christ sent by all of you. I hope that you realize the impact that YOU are having on the Kingdom.

I only wish that I could transport each and every one of you here for a day so that you can see the way that God is working in the lives of these children because of you. Thank you for caring about them and me.

“But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with us.” Philippians 2:17-18
