Jumping on a plane for over 24 hours was not exactly my idea of a great New Year’s day, but for the second year in a row that is exactly what I did.
I celebrated the end of 2010 with good friends, good food and good wine and promptly jumped on an airplane. It is funny how glamorous that sounds and how non-glamorous it really is. The airports were jam-packed, flights were delayed and my traveling companion’s luggage was lost. Happy New Year!
I had a quick flight from Atlanta to JFK and it was there that I was to meet up with about 20 brand new World Race faces. I was running a bit late thanks to rain in ATL and LONG baggage lines in JFK, but as I dashed through the international terminal that unforgettable feeling hit me again. In a few short minutes I was going to look into the eyes of 20 scared, excited and completely clueless people about to embark on the journey of a lifetime.
It was one of those moments where I was overcome with love for my life. The anticipation, the excitement, the anxiousness all colliding in these lives. 20 people of my generation who believe there is more. 20 people who are desperate to GO. 20 people willing to give it all up. 20 people about to see the things of God I can’t even begin to explain.
I think I am jealous for them. As I ran into them in the terminal I was overcome. I know the life change that is coming. I know the pain, the heartbreak, the shaping and molding, the joy, the excitement and the passion that is coming for them. There is nothing better I could do with my life. Equip. Empower. Love. Pray. Teach. I can’t wait to see what God does with them this year!
Over the next 10 days close to 200 new Racers will be launched out into the World. Will you pray for them? Will you pray they go further beyond what I can imagine? Pray that they see the things of God they are desperate to experience. Pray for the Nations that will be impacted in the next 11 months. Pray for their friends and family who are missing them right now. Pray that their hearts will be prepared. Just pray for them.
While you are at it…please pray for my support account. Still need over $6,000 to meet my 2010 support raising goal. Your partnership and giving allow a generation to be changed by God.
