Leading up to my birthday on Thanksgiving day this year, I want to share 32 ministries and people that have been LOVED by Jesus through you. I am the one with the job title at the World Race and I am the one who has physically been in these countries, but I could not do this alone. When I travel and speak and love on kiddos I recognize that there is a huge team of people that go with me. I am very aware that I am just an extension of your hands and your feet. I go in the name of Jesus as a representative of so many who pray, love and support me. It is only fitting that you have a sneak peak into the lives of some of the people we have impacted…
#1: Amanda Thompson
Amanda showed up for training camp in the spring of 2009. It is safe to say she was a hot mess. 🙂 She was dealing with some hidden issues in her life and could not see a way out. She had little self esteem and honestly was just a shell of a life. I had the chance to connect with her on a personal level and through her 11 month journey on the WR she has found freedom, healing and a complete identity in Jesus Christ. Amanda now leads trips for our college-aged students and is actively working to bring that same freedom and healing she found into the lives of people just like her. When I think of Amanda I picture a great representation of the Kingdom. She found freedom through us and now is giving it right back.
#2. SHE Thailand. SHE (Self Help Empowerment) Ministry is a favorite among all world racers. They are based in Phuket, Thailand in the heart of the trafficking industry so widely-known in Thailand. They actively work to rescue women from a life of prostitution and look to give them job skills that will allow them to live abundant lives. While during my time in Phuket I had the pleasure of ministering alongside their staff in the bars each evening. During the day we taught english, inventoried jewelry and did discipleship with the women who had left prostitution and were working to provide for their families in other ways.
SHE Ministry is made of one family from the UK who saw something wrong in the world and moved their family to do something about it. Mark and Sharon have 4 awesome kids and have called Thailand home since 2006 and are seeing lasting change in so many lives. They are a favorite for Racers and we continue to send teams their way on a regular basis. I am excited to return to Thailand this January to see them again and continue to partner with them.
