Hello!
My name is Allison and I’m a World Racer on the J Squad leaving in September.
I’ve just graduated from college with a degree in chemistry, but I’ve learned so much more in the last four years than how to synthesize DEET in a lab. I’ve been an active participant in Asian Christian Fellowship, Joyful Noise (a Christian a cappella group), and our campus chapter of International Justice Mission, as well as a few other organizations. Each of these orgs have been critical in shaping who I am now and where I’m headed next.
Two years ago, I studied abroad in Granada, Spain for five weeks over the summer. This ignited in me a passion for travel, for living within cultures instead of just looking at them from the outside, for understanding what others believe in and sharing what I believe in too. I didn’t see God placing any opportunities for me to go and serve Him abroad until one of my friends posted in a Facebook group about the World Race. I applied, got in, and here I am, leaving in a little over three months!
I’m so excited to be serving God alongside my squadmates and teammates. One of my biggest fears for after graduation was that I wouldn’t be able to find community like I did in college, but I know that one of WR’s biggest emphases is on honest and true community. I know this is going to be hard and incredibly challenging, but I’m looking forward to how God will work in my heart and change how I live and love and think.

In addition to traveling, I also love science, photography, music, and design. You can find my photoblog at allisonyhuang.tumblr.com, where I’ll be posting photos regularly throughout my Race.
