It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was in Vietnam, the last country of my World Race. By this point I had traveled through Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia and gained exposure to a wide range of ministries, met incredible people and encountered the Lord in deep and rich ways.
During the last year since coming home from the Race, the Lord asked me to trust him and walk confidently into a season of unknown. I came home not knowing what I was going to do next. Was I supposed to get a job? Or go back to school? All I knew was that I was asked to wait.
And that’s what I did. Then the Lord called me to lead a Passport trip to Nicaragua… that was leaving in a week. The timing was crazy but I knew that’s exactly how the Lord wanted me to move. Goodness, I’m so glad that I did. In the past, I would step into leadership positions because there was a need and someone needed to fill it. This trip showed me what it was like to lead because I was called and qualified. Walking along side sixteen women and encouraging them in their pursuit of Christ was such a beautiful experience. It’s so life giving to point others to Christ.
When I came home from Nicaragua, again I was unsure as to my next step and then the door was opened to finish my Masters. Without my family, especially Mark, Chachie and Sonya, the opportunity to graduate would not have been possible. Their support carried me through the hardest semester of my academic career. I did it, I graduated!
Ok, so now what?
Well, when I was in Nicaragua, I read a post on the WR Alumni page about the opening of another base in Thailand! This caught my eye because on the Race I worked at the Overflow Guesthouse in Cambodia, the first overseas base established by Adventures. I loved my time there because I got to use my marketing/graphic design background as ministry! While I was in Nicaragua I reached out for more information about the new base. When I found out some of the details my heart leaped but I was already signed up for school. I knew that the semester was going to require all of my attention with no distractions.
Once the semester finished at the end of May, I reached out again because working with the pioneer team was still on my heart.
I will be joining the start up team for the newest base opening in
Chiangmai, Thailand for 13 months this August!!
This team will not only be establishing a new business, but we’ll be hosting/mentoring World Race teams and making ministry connections in the area. It’s beautiful combination of my marketing/graphic design experience and encouraging current Racers on the field. I’m super excited for this new chapter and I’m excited to see where the Lord is leading me. I’m so thankful for all the love, support and prayers that my loved ones have given me over the last two years.
Once again the timing is crazy and quick but I know that this the direction that the Lord is leading me. Training starts in Cambodia in the beginning of August. Looking back at the peace that I had in the not knowing what’s next and the peace that I felt in the decision about to follow the call to go to Nicaragua and I find myself with that same peace. A peace that passes all understanding.
I’m looking for partners to support me prayerfully and financially. In order to leave in the beginning of August, I need to raise $12,000 through a combination of committed monthly support and one-time donations. You can donate here. (Make sure to write out my full name)
If you have any questions, let me know and I’d loved to chat!!
