It has been quite a lovely autumn afternoon filled with the beauty of changing leaves, a periwinkle sky and crisp fall air. I joyfully spent the morning worshipping with my church body, fellowshipping with my mom and wrapping up the evening in a Martha Stewart-like way: two crock pots cooking away my first and second attempts (ever!) of homemade sloppy joes with sweet potato chips crisping in the oven.
Safe to say I’ve succeeded in making my apartment smell like autumn while at the same time putting off the drafting of this post… because money makes me feel a little awkward. So without further adieu, here is the post that has been the biggest challenge to write thus far: finances and fundraising.
My faith in the Lord’s provision of financial needs has not wavered at all. But, as I ask for your prayer and financial support for this mission God has called me to be a part of, you have every right to know where this money is going. Below is a bit of a summary. For a complete list of details please check out AIM’s policy at http://adventures.org/policies/policies.PDF
What do you have to raise? In order for me to participate in the WR I need to fundraise $14,243.00 by July 1, 2015.
Where does this money go? All donations made go to AIM headquarters for the WR. The money is broken down to support the churches, ministries and partners we will be serving with every month. It will also go to help pay for our transportation, food and lodging throughout the year.
The $14,243 covers expenses and health insurance for the 11 month duration of the WR. If you feel called to support me with financial donations outside of this, such as plane tickets to launch in January and back home in November, vaccinations or equipment for the race, I would be grateful for your support.
What happens if you raise more money than what you need? First off, PRAISE God!! That would be such a blessing. In the event that more money comes in that what is needed the excess funds will not flow into any personal account of mine. It will continue to go to AIM to use as needed for WR expenses.
Who handles the money during the race? The team treasurer handles this, a position I am honored to hold. I will receive additional training during launch in January, arriving early to learn more about the financial responsibilities and budgeting required throughout the 11 months.
For further encouragement to my squad-mates and financial supporters, when I was younger I was always the designated banker in Monopoly. So as Allstate also ensures, you’re in good hands 🙂
What do you have left to raise? Currently I am 22% funded and need to raise a remaining $11,043 by July 1, 2015. Our financial deadlines for the race are broken down according to the below schedule.
December 19, 2014 – $6,500.00
April 1, 2015 – $9,500.00
July 1, 2015 – $14,243.00
If you have additional questions concerning the race and/or finances, please don’t hesitate to contact me! If you feel led to donate towards this mission and support me on The World Race, please visit my “Support Me” link to make a donation through AIM electronically or find additonal instructions to donate by mail.
This is a humbling post to write. Asking for financial help has always been a challenge for me but God has been working in my heart to show me that what he’s called me to do is impossible if I tried to do it alone. His participation is first and foremost, but yours is needed as well. I’d like to ask you to partner with me in this mission. We may not all be able to physically go out to the ends of the earth but God is going to use every one of us in a perfectly unique way to further his kingdom and bring the lost to him. I’d be delighted to serve with you.
