This post goes out to my PSSI family throughout the country.
I may not have been able to say goodbye, or rather, see you later. And even if I did I’m not sure I was able to tell you how sincerely thankful and how important you are in my life through the tears and awkward laughter as I unsuccessfully attempted to keep the crying at bay.
Three years ago, fresh out of college, I never expected to work for a company and spend 40 hours a week with 50+ coworkers I would soon consider family. Not many people are as blessed as I have been to wake up in the morning ready and excited to head to work. The job we do isn’t always easy but your presence and friendship made each day notable and worth it all: monthly potlucks where desserts always outnumbered the entrée, impromptu photo bombs at the punch clock and continual celebrations of birthdays, engagements, pregnancies and new life.
Most recently your support for this new chapter in my life has been mind blowing. I prepared myself for the worst – rejection, offense, frustration – when I told you I was leaving. But that never came. Instead I received a smile, many hugs, tears of joy mixed with sorrow as prayers and encouragement poured out from each of you.
I’ll be honest, for a split second I questioned whether I was making the right decision after seeing your loving response. As I prayed, though, God was clear in telling me that he wanted me to be involved in The World Race. For three years he brought me to work with you to use my gifts in this company and to love on you. He’s calling me to continue to do the same but somewhere else. While that somewhere else is a little farther away (and warmer – hard to fight me on that this week!) You will still be with me every step of the way.
Because of you, my PSSI family, I have reached and even exceeded 50% of my fundraising goal in just a few days!! Words cannot express my gratitude and thankfulness for your financial support. I may be the hands and feet that God is sending to 11 countries this next year but your gifts and prayers also play a huge role in making this mission possible. Thank you!
