“I’m not a gifted teacher.”      “I don’t connect with kids very well.”

“I’m not very good with my words.”       “I’m an introvert.”

These are excuses.

God has shown me this month that, whether or not these excuses are true, they should not stop me from walking in obedience. Let’s unpack these a bit:

“I’m not a gifted teacher.”
Guess what I did this month? I helped teach and tutor kids. Was it difficult? Yes. Did I want to lose my patience at times? Yes. But did God grow my confidence in teaching? Yes.

“I don’t connect with kids very well.”
Guess what has happened since leaving on the race? I have connected with three kids in ways I didn’t think possible. Only three, you say? Yes, but God handpicked those three specifically for me to encourage, play with, and remind them that, yes, you are worth seeing.

“I’m not very good with my words.”
Guess what? Moses wasn’t good with his words either but God still used him and brought Aaron along to help. You are worth listening to. People in your life need to hear from you. Whether it’s one-on-one, during team time, or in front of your whole squad, don’t be afraid to speak. I was but I’m not anymore.

“I’m an introvert.”
Guess what? The world race is not made up of only extroverts, introverts have a place too. But do not under any circumstances use your introverted-ness as an excuse to not do things God has asked you to do. He made you and He knows how to sustain you. You never know what might happen if you decide to pause your movie and instead take a walk with your teammates.

Be you and in that God will continue to show you more and more of who He is creating you to be.

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 1:6
