Kabale, Uganda.
This month was one I had been waiting and hoping for all year. I love hanging with kids older than twelve and this month I got to do just that. Oh what a joy! The Shepherd Center is a refuge to the boys of Kabale who need stability. All former street kids, these boys now have a roof over their heads, food to eat, school to attend, and a community to live with. It was so fun to share life with them for a few weeks. I only wish I had more time.
Here are a few of my favorite things from the month:
Holding hands with the boys as we walked
Eating chapati and learning to make it
Playing soccer and being invited to soccer practice
Riding bodas around town
Painting walls with bright color
Watching the election unfold live
Watching Holley kill mosquitoes
Rain
Our boat ride around Lake Bunyoni
When an African referred to me as brown not white
Attending a Ugandan engagement celebration
Teaching the boys how to play spoons
