This week a few teammates of mine and I were walking around the city on our way to find a ride home when we were stopped by a familiar face. We had met a group of Americans here who are on an outreach with their church’s discipleship school, and we’ve gotten to spend some time with them. This friend who had recognized us and called us over, we had met him just a few nights before. He was sitting with a few Mongolian men, one of whom was a translator; the other had tears in his eyes. “Meet your new brother”, he said to us. Just before we walked up to them, this man had accepted Christ and he decided to follow Jesus for the first time!! Shortly afterwards we heard his full, miraculous story, and the miracle that Christ did in him just 48 hours prior.
Just 2 days before our encounter the whole right side of this man’s body was paralyzed. He couldn’t walk and could hardly speak. Yesterday he was HEALED and he WALKED!! He walked for the first time in 2 YEARS because Jesus healed him and gave him the ability to walk again! So, when we met him we prayed for him again, for his life in Christ, for full restoration and healing, that he would be able to speak, run, dance, that Jesus would heal him even further. When we finished praying he tried walking again and he said that the pain in his body was gone, that his right foot was shaking and that he was gaining a warm sensation in his right leg—Jesus was continuing to touch him, He was healing more and that man knew it! He walked with confidence, his hand raised in the air proclaiming all the while, “Yesüs!”, “Jesus!” It was beautiful. It was like a child taking his first steps and reaching towards his Father for the first time!
When he finished walking back to the bench he decided right then and there that he was done using the cane he used as his right leg. He said that he didn’t need it anymore. When asked if he wanted it “just in case” he said that he was sure he did not want it. He believes that Jesus will continue to heal him further, because He can, that’s what Jesus does! He is in the business of healing and saving lives, both of which this man experienced that day!
This man gave his life to Jesus and decided that he was done using anything but Jesus as a crutch. His faith is beautiful and simple and inspiring! Jesus touched this man, He healed him and when I witnessed this man walking I felt the power of Christ, it was amazing!
Even though this man just decided to follow Jesus a few days ago, Jesus has been pursuing this man for his whole life. He has loved him from the start and it was beautiful to see this man’s faith, his immediate love and devotion for Jesus. The Lord has His best for us, for His children, and He is a Father who delights in the lives of His children, in the joys and dreams and desires of His children. He is a great and mighty Father and He is multiplying His family daily in the most amazing ways!!
