This post may be a bit late since I’m writing it while on day 4 of this thing, but I want to give you all a glimpse into month 11.

For our last month of the World Race, Y squad is in the magnificent country of Spain. In every other month we have been pretty stationary in our host city. But just about everything is different in month 11. Since May 25th, I have been hiking the Camino de Santiago, or The Way of Saint James. We started in Pamplona, Spain and I am currently writing to you from Viana, 52 miles later. The total stretch we are walking is about 137 miles, over the course of 14 days. Today is day 4.

I’m in pain, but I have to say I’m surprised by how quickly my body is adjusting to walking for miles everyday. Today I hurt a little less, and hopefully tomorrow is even better. And beyond the physical stress, I’d say the toughest aspect of life on the Camino is the mental game. Everyday I’m mentally done long before my body actu needs to stop, so that’s been interesting to navigate. I find my mind is getting exercised just as much as my poor legs. A large part of why we are doing this thing is to have a space to process the past 10 months. That’s been fun and weird. Another reason is to meet new people and join the Camino culture. That’s also been fun and weird.

I realize this blog really doesn’t give you all that much info, but I’ve walked 13 miles today and am a bit sleepy. I will try to tell a few stories soon. In the mean time, please be praying for me as I walk The Way. My biggest struggle each day is the bunion. Yes, I’m 23 years old and have terribly bad bunions. So as silly as it sounds, I’d really appreciate prayers for some relief and for perseverance through all the craziness. Also, prayers that I may display the goodness of our God to my fellow pilgrim friends.

with love,

Lina
