Sometimes you walk into ministry and you have no idea what you will be doing that day. Sometimes 5 kids are trying to jump on your back yelling “selfie” all at the same time. Sometimes you get to be a jungle gym or play 7 games of soccer in a row despite the fact that every kid under the age of 10 makes you look like you have never played sports in your life. I would like to believe that Jesus didn’t always know His next steps either. for example, when He fed the 5,000 with a few fish and some bread, raised Lazarus from the dead, and healed the paralyzed man after his friends crashed Jesus’s Sunday morning sermon. He had to rely on His Father’s guidance and soverign timing like the rest of us, especially when things didn’t go as planned. Even when I have no idea what I am doing, I know my God is still smiling down and leading the way with His perfect plan. As long as I trust Him, I don’t need to know what fruit will come from the day or which child’s heart starts beating a little faster during the Bible story skit. I am learning that complete exhaustion is God’s way of saying “well done my good and faithful servant” and true faithfulness is believing God will create a deep-rooted tree from the seeds we plant, whether we get to see the fruit from it or not.
Thank You, Jesus, for all that you do that we do not see. It’s a beautiful world you are redeeming one precious child at a time.
