I can’t say that I have ever been to a new place and made as many close friends as I have this month. I will deeply miss this country and friendships here.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.”-John 15:12-15
I have truly loved getting to know these beautiful people, creating memories together over coffee shop dates, beach games, late night Nitrogen ice cream, and Dragon Bridge adventures. I will especially miss their laughter over my inability to pronounce anything in Vietnamese. (I finally got Viet Nam down on the last day! Score!).
We said it a million times before saying goodbye- “I will miss you!” Those words don’t always mean as much to us; sometimes we use them carelessly. But this year those words carry significant weight. We only get a limited amount of time in the places we go and that time can hold purpose and meaning, or not. It’s all about what you make of it.
30 days can be stretched across a lifetime when the memories you create last far longer than the time it takes to make them.
