“I’m pretty sure I’m heard, at least I know I’m speaking, but I feel like such a fool, because I can’t hear you listening..”

Have you ever had those days where you have no direction, things are falling apart and you’re just sitting in the middle of nowhere until something seemingly just appears and speaks to you? That has been me this week and the thing that has spoken to me has been the song Sailboat by Ben Rector (if you haven’t heard it, look it up. you wont regret it).

This week my plans for school have been knocked out from under me and I’m just kind of waiting for God to give me direction. Of course he has one, and I’m sure it is WAY better than the ones that I had but right now he is quiet. I have also encountered the first opposition to the World Race by people who do not understand why I would “postpone being a productive member of society” to go give my time, my heart and everything I have to people who are in desperate need of being loved. Right now I feel like that sailboat sitting in the waves, I don’t know where I am going and the wind is blowing in the opposite direction from where God is calling me to go.

Whoever you are and wherever you are at in life while you’re reading this I want to encourage you that even if your calling causes opposition, even if people do not understand what you are doing but you know you are following the path set before you by your Creator, your Father and your King then you are doing life correctly. I want to remind you of a few things: first, sometimes God can be silent but that does not mean that he is not listening and does not care! Days like these stretch our faith and force us to believe that he is working without the immediate proof that things are happening. Second, know that the two things Jesus calls us to do above all else is to love God and to love people. As long as you are doing those two things you are doing great! You and I might be lost together today, being pushed against and waiting for a direction from the guy with the map but I believe in you and your faith and you should too. I don’t know who you are but I am praying that you don’t give in to the opposition and continue on toward where you know you are supposed to be.
