Finally, civilization once again! As I sit here drinking my first cup of delicious black Joe in about 7 weeks, (thank you supporters) I can’t help but feel blessed. I am so overwhelmed right now by the love of God. Just the fact that I am now sitting in an air-conditioned Java House curled up on a big cushiony couch in Cambodia blows my mind. I never would have imagined myself here in a million years, and it’s only by the grace of God and His love for me that I am here. That I am healthy, and always have a roof over my head and a place to sleep.
When moments on the race are less than ideal I turn to God and thank Him for all the blessings and the life He has given me. It helps me refocus my thoughts on what is good and it helps me get through the hard times. But this time it’s not because of uncomfortable or crummy circumstances, it’s because I am overwhelmed by the goodness of my God that I feel compelled to give thanks to Him right now. So I thought I’d share some of the things that I am so incredibly thankful for at this moment.
Father, I am just in awe of you right now. You are so generous and unfailingly good to me. So I just thank you right now for the breath in my lungs,
this cup of coffee,
the couch I am sitting on,
the joy in my heart,
your grace that covers me every moment of every day,
safe travels,
the BED I get to sleep on tonight,
the awesome cultural experiences I’ve had,
the month I spent breathing in fresh country air,
running water,
free wi-fi,
my team,
your love and comfort that surrounds me,
hearing me when I talk to you and responding to me.
So, thank you God.
What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things that you thanked God for today?
The LORD is good to everyone.
He showers compassion on all his creation.
All of your works will thank you, LORD,
and your faithful followers will praise you.
