So it's official I am on the World Race right now! The journey begins in DC. I can't believe it but the time has come and I have regrouped with my squad to begin the launch process! Still a few days until I leave for Kenya, seems like forever away but Friday will come soon enough.
It has been great so far. Today was filled with a complete array of emotions, excited, sad, happy, joyful, anticipating what is ahead, sad again. The hardest part was saying see ya soon to my family. But knowing that God is in control and has called me here for a purpose kept me moving forward. After the goodbyes and some time to recoup my day looked something like this: waited in the airport terminal for a couple hours, crammed 30+ people with giant packs onto a bus, getting everyone onto a DC metro line during rush hour, then cramming on to an even smaller bus to our final destination, meeting the team leaders and the rest of the squad (lots of hugs), set up my tent, ate some good food at a table in a room with AC and drinkable running water, and spent some time with my team the Fire Disciples (lots of laughs). Bear with me while i figure out how to process all these thoughts and emotions because they are all over the place.
