Woah. It’s been a whirlwind already and its only day nine. We were in Washington DC for 4 fours days before leaving for Dondo, Mozambique.  We traveled for 79.6 hours.  That includes very nice plane rides (thank you Emirates) to very uncomfortable bus rides.  Regardless we got to our ministry sight safe and sound.  We have been staying at Iris, which is run by a woman Heidi Baker. My team along with another team leave everyday to go to a boys home called Kedesh. I honestly can’t begin to explain this place.  It is absolutely gorgeous and the boys here are full of life.  They are always ready to play and have fun.  This place feels so much like home… and when you are away from the ones you love, it’s nice to escape to that.

I have learned that when there are boys around (and yes even the “grown” men on our team) you can have a fight with just about anything… flour, water balloons, mangos, mud, and weeds… yeah we are never clean.
We went to Beira, which is a bigger town close to Dondo, on our off day to go to the beach and relax.  We ate some PIZZA and played in the ocean for a bit.  We got chased down because we walked off with OUR coke bottles.  Apparently they recycle them… Who knew?  When you have to get around in Dondo you ride in a van that fits 10 comfortably.  Mozambique doesn’t know comfortable.  There are usually about 22 people in a van, and sometimes that includes chickens.  As we headed back a huge thunderstorm came.  Once we got off we had to run back to Iris.  The graceful person that I am completely ate it in a huge puddle.  Needless to say it was an adventure, and a very fun one at that.

Quite honestly there are so many more stories that my team and I have experienced together.  The best part of my trip so far is getting to know my team so well.  The Lord has called us to vulnerability already, and it’s been incredible to really know and understand the hearts of my teammates.  I will be living life with these 6 other people for close to a year.  The Lord knew what He was doing when He put us seven together.  There is never a dull moment, we are ALWAYS laughing, and we are always down for an adventure.  He has shown favor to us and I am excited to see what this next year has to hold.
