Hi pals. Soooo, we made it to country number 2!
We left Guatemala last Monday December 10th and after hours and hours and HOURS of travel, a 24 hour layover in LA, seeing 5 countries in total, and losing Wednesday at the international date line, we finally made it to Thailand on Thursday December 13th.
After hanging out at the base in Chiang Mai for some language/cultural orientation last weekend, we arrived in a city called Fang in northern Thailand near the Myanmar border for our ministry on Sunday.
We’re teaching English at this SUPER nice Buddhist high school for this month. When I say super nice, I mean super nice. Like a college campus. There’s even a coffee shop. Thanks God. What that looks like is basically just going to different classes to help with pronunciation and explanation if English words. Except this one class that I walked in and the teacher handed me a workbook page and said “You teach this?” and then I proceeded to teach her class for an hour about how to have a conversation with a waitress. Ya know, world race things.
Our squad is split up for this month, so it’s only our team here in Fang and we’re staying at a house (A HOUSE, praise God !!!!) provided to us by the school.
Honestly, we’re so blessed. Wowza. And our hosts are the sweetest.
Our team is settling in well but it is a little weird being on our own so pray for us as we figure out what that looks like! I’m also stepping into team leading now that our alumni team leaders have gone back home so pray for me in that. Other than that, just pray for our lights to shine as we interact with the students and staff and for opportunities to open up gospel conversations!
We’re thriving in Asia people !! Thanks Papa for knowing my heart and for ordaining every single moment. Can’t believe this is my life.
If you have any questions let me know, I just wanted to give y’all a quick update on what Thailand looks like and the last couple weeks of life!
Love ya so so much,
Alley
