Well, it has officially been a week since I got home from training camp but it still feels like a dream. I thought I would only need a day or two to process and I would be able to write an awesome blog about the 11 things I learned at training camp or something catchy like that but I am still struggling to put it into words.
Training camp was much harder than I thought. I figured it would be like a Christian camp for adults and, well, it kind of was. However, it was also very different from that. Every moment was used as a lesson or a training opportunity. I became used to the idea of “hurry up and wait.” I struggled and adapted to living an unsettled life. I learned to squish everything I would carry for a year into my pack in record time. I realized 8 outfits for 10 days was waayyy more than I needed. I found proper hygiene was relative and sometimes you just have to deal with baby wipes. I figured out that just when you think things (or people) couldn’t possibly smell any worse, they find a way of smelling worse. I became accustomed to living in a tent, port-a-potties (which fill up more quickly than you could imagine), cold bucket showers, and sweating profusely (even during a cold bucket shower).
I was shown just how quickly 50+ strangers can become family.
During the 10ish days I spent at training camp, I realized I could find comfort in God while I am out of my comfort zone. I am still processing through everything God has done in my life in such a short period of time but I am looking forward to how he will be able to work in me and use me over the next year.

I’m not going to go into detail about what happened at training camp on my blog right now because I am honestly struggling to put into writing all that I saw God do but I would love to meet up with anyone interested to talk more about it!
