Hello Everyone!
Thank you so much for taking your time to check out my blog! For those of you that don’t know, my name is Alleigh. I am a 22 year old graduate of Virginia Tech with a major in Human Development. My major means that I will have to go to grad school in order to get a job, but that will have to wait. God has decided that now is not the time for that. God let me know I would be serving Him by serving others around the world soon after I graduated from high school but He also let me know I wasn’t ready yet. Now, I am ready. I am willing to accept change. I am willing to be interrupted. I am ready and willing to fully rely on God and His plan. I am going on the World Race!
So, here is a little bit more about me:
– I have a super awesome family that introduced me to traveling at a young age. They have been so supportive of my calling to go on the World Race and for that I am entirely thankful.
– I have an adorable black labrador named Hunter. He is unlike any other dog I have met because he acts like a mini human. He also likes to sit on his butt with his paws up and he gives the best hugs. I have included a picture of us in a tunnel because he is so freakin’ cute. (Disclaimer: I am not wearing a leash. The picture is deceiving.)
– I love trying new things. Although many people may consider me a picky eater I have tried guinea pig, cow foot soup, skata (putrified skate), hakarl (fermented shark), and one time I threw up foie gras at the table in a fancy restaurant. I am looking forward to adding to my list of weird foods because I am pretty sure I could be the next Andrew Zimmer (or maybe not).
– I like being adventurous and doing things that most people have not done. One of my favorite things to do is scuba diving.
– I am a Hokie through and through and I try to live by our motto, Ut Prosim (That I may serve).
– I am hoping to go back to school to get my doctorate in physical therapy when I come back from the World Race if that is still in God’s plan for me.
– My favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:1-2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God– this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. THen you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is– his good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
This has been my favorite verse since I was 9 but there will be more on it later.
– Last, but not least, I AM GOING ON THE WORLD RACE!!!!
If you would like to hear more about my journey, you can subscribe to my blog! I have always wanted to be a blogger since before I knew that was a thing (anyone else remember Xanga??) so I am hoping I will keep this fairly updated!
