Hello everyone!

I thought I would take some time to tell you a little about who I am and why this has brought me here on this journey.

My name is Alivia Simpson and I was born and raised in sunny Scottsdale, AZ. I have grown up the eldest of 6 kids, 3 girls and 3 boys. My parents love the outdoors so I grew up biking, hiking, camping, and swimming every weekand love it! I just graduated from Scottsdale Christian Academy and plan to attend Liberty College after this adventure.

Many people ask how I came to the decision to go on The World Race. I actually never really thought of taking a gap year but the Lord had other plans. I came across several ads for it while scrolling on Instagram and something about it caught my attention. I began to research it and ended up setting up an interview just to see what it was like and who this organization was. I LOVED it and decided this would be a good step in the direction I wanted to go with my life. My dream is to be a Bush pilot, after I get my license, in remote areas where the people have no access to healthcare. The pilots fly them out of the jungles and rivers to nearby hospitals that they would not have been able to reach otherwise. I felt like God was giving me this opportunity with The World Race to prepare me for living overseas someday. I talked to my parents about it and we prayed and felt that yes, this is where I am meant to be next year.

I am going to Ecuador for my first 3 months, then Peru a month, followed by Guatemala for 2 months, and finally Cambodia for 3 months. I have training camp this July in Georgia where they train us and inform us in what we are doing on this journey. We will be doing a lot of orphan work, as well as teaching english and school, work in rescuing girls from sex slavery, building projects, and most importantly sharing the Gospel with these people. We leave for the full 9 months on September 8th, 2018 and I return June 1st, 2019.

I am so excited to share my journey with you over this next year!!!
