This is Q Squad.
This is my family.
These are my people.
Reflecting on this past year with them, I can’t help but smile. In a time when our generation gets a bad wrap for being self absorbed and entitled, these men and women chose to sacrifice their own personal life pursuits and physical comforts to gain a broader world view and serve others for 11 months.
I’m so humbled by the honor it has been to lead this group. I’ve challenged them into more growth, encouraged them when they doubted their abilities and I’ve learned twice as much from them!
I learned how to lead with humility and grace and how to step out in faith and walk in true obedience. I’ve learned that I have an immense passion for teaching others and find joy in seeing them learn to then go on and teach as well – it’s a passion for discipleship.
As their squad leader, my final commitment is to fly back into the field to meet with them for their final debrief in November. To laugh and to cry with them as we share memories from the year and lessons learned. And to celebrate a job well done.
