Hello! I am thankful for this opportunity to share with
you what has been going on in my life lately. God has been using me and
teaching me in many ways. As many of you know, I completed my undergraduate and
Master’s degree in social work and have been working two years now as a social
worker. I intended to serve God through my work, but, instead, I have become
complacent, just going through the motions of working. Even though I am
successful in society’s view, I feel God calling me to something different. I
do not know God’s entire plan for my life, but right now, I feel God is calling
me towards missions. I was excited when I found out about an opportunity to
join Adventures In Mission (AIM) on The World Race! I plan to leave with a team
in July 2010.
In
the past, people have asked me the question, “What would you do if you had a
million dollars?” Every time, my response has been that I would travel and help
people. In reflection, I have realized that if I did not have to worry about
money or a job that is what I would do with my life. AIM has given me the
opportunity to do that. On The World Race, I will be traveling to 11 different
countries in 11 months! I will be discipled and trained in various areas of
ministry and missions. My team and I will provide a variety of services for
those in need as well as share the gospel. During this time, I will have the
opportunity to work with orphans and victims of sex trafficking, teach English,
and do Gypsy outreach, among other things. Not only will God use me to help
others, He will also use this time to stretch me and help me grow in every way:
physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.
I am
so thankful for this opportunity and I trust that God will meet my needs. I
would like to invite you to join with me on this adventure! I would be honored
if you could partner prayerfully and financially with me in this ministry. I am
specifically asking for 15 people who will commit to pray for me each day until
I return. Also, I must raise $15,000 for the year that goes directly to AIM.
This will cover all of my expenses (food, lodging, travel, etc.) while on the
field. If you choose to partner with me financially, you can give a one
time donation or a monthly donation. If you contribute a monthly donation, you
can decide the start and end date. If you choose to offer monthly donations, starting
as soon as possible would be most helpful in paying for initial costs. Please
prayerfully consider partnering with me, whether prayerfully or financially, and
give as you feel led. Any amount is helpful and appreciated!
I am
very excited about how God will use me and what He will teach me through this experience!
I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. My desire
is to go as your representative of Jesus Christ. I hope you will prayerfully
consider being part of my ministry. If you have any questions or want to know
other ways to be involved, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Also, feel free to pass along the blog info to anyone else you think may be interested. Thank you so much!
In
Christ,
Alison
