Thank you for checking out my blog!

I am on the July2012 F Squad of The World Race.  (To learn more about The World Race, check out http://theworldrace.org and/or my Route – July2012 Route 1)

A bit about me:

I am a daughter of two amazing and loving parents who are super supportive.

I have a sister (26) and a brother (24).  My sis, Lauren, is getting married this month and my bro, Eric, is off in the Navy serving our country. I’m so proud of both of them!

I have lived in Cary, North Carolina (suburb of Raleigh) my whole life.

I am a huge animal person and have an adorable black lab mix, Cali.

I went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Business Administration. I then went straight into their Masters of Accounting program. After graduating, I moved to Charlotte, NC for a Tax Accounting job at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

I fell in love with Charlotte and my new friends and church, but God had different plans for me that are completely out of my comfort zone – I am leaving the country for 11 months, living out of a backpack, to serve God's people who are in need.

Who me?!?

But I love my life in Charlotte.  I have a great job, amazing friends, and a church I love.  But, when God tells you to go, you go.  And I couldn't be more excited about what God has chosen for this next season of my life!!

A bit about my faith:

So, back in the day, I used to be a party animal, boy crazy, selfish, way too worried about my appearance, super self-conscious all the time, and thought that God wanted me to “be a good person” and “believe in Jesus so I can get into Heaven.”

Well, through the years, God has been teaching me what the Gospel is really about.  It's funny how the same words can come to mean something so much different the more you understand them and believe them.  Now I know that through Jesus' death for me, I am absolutely and completely freed from all past and future sin and that nothing can separate me from the God's love.  And, He’s showing me that faith in Him leads me to adventure, an abundantly full life, and a better plan than I could ever imagine for myself.

Now I am a new creation and I love God so much sometimes it hurts. And I see the world through new eyes.  I’m nowhere close to perfect and God has so much left to do in me, but He is completely transforming my heart to be more like His.  I don’t deserve it, but I’m so thankful because the joy and significance of this new life in him can’t begin to compare to the life I’ve left behind.

Random facts:

My favorite board game is Cranium and I keep it in my trunk at all times in case anyone is ever willing to play it with me!  (I may consider bringing some of the cards on the Race)

I am definitely an introvert and pretty quiet in big groups. (So we’ll see how I do being around people non-stop for a year!)

My dream car (kind of embarrassing) is a 2007ish Mustang GT. I’d probably never actually drive one, but every time I see one I can’t turn away.

I really don’t like clothes or shopping. I wish I could wear a uniform every day and never do my hair or make-up.  (I’m actually looking forward to wearing the same 5 outfits for a year!)

I am usually reading about 6 non-fiction books at once, usually by one of my favorite pastors.

I’ve gone about 9 months without cable. (And coming from a once TV addict, I surprisingly never want to go back)

I’m a bit of a hippy at heart. I’ve been to Bonnaroo twice (2008 and 2010) and I love live music.  (So pumped to hear music from so many different cultures!)

I spend a large portion of my free time reading/hanging out at random local coffee shops (Charlotte favorites are Central Coffee and Smelly Cat).

I hope that helped you get to know me a little bit better. If you’re interested in following me on the Race, please subscribe to my blog by typing your email address on the left side of this page.

"I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward – to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back." – Philippians 3:12-14 (The Message)
