I keep thinking, "What did I get myself into? How did this happen?" and, "I must be crazy."
I'm leaving the country in July to go to 11 countries in 11 months where I will be serving people in all kinds of ways, including working in hospitals and orphanages, doing community development, teaching kids, and so much more.
My route is going to Ireland, Ukraine, Russia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, India, Nepal, Cambodia, "Challenge: Asia" (TBD), Malaysia.
God has been leading my heart towards missions for years. He has given me a heart of compassion and a desire to serve others. He has given me the ability to put myself in others' shoes and to look past someone's circumstances into their heart.
I want to go serve in places where the circumstances seem completely desperate and hopeless, and I want to bring life and love and laughter. I want to get my hands dirty and go above and beyond what I'm asked to do. I want to make nothing of myself to lift others up.
I want people to see that there's more…
There's more than their situation.
More than their poverty.
More than loneliness, despair, heartache, disease.
God loves them with an unfaltering, undying, unchanging, all-consuming love that goes beyond measure.
My prayer is that people would know this love that surpasses knowledge. I want to be the vessel God uses to take His love to the unreached. I want to tell people about Jesus. But more than that, I want to SHOW them Jesus and his love. I want people to know that they're loved beyond comprehension.
Could God use me?
Has he chosen me for this mission?
All I know is that I feel called. And I feel peace.
And I feel confident of God's faithfulness, provision, and favor over my life.
The fact that I have committed to going on this trip, which is something very unlike me to do, says it all. This is not me. This is God through me. He has given me this passion and this desire to serve his people. He has and continues to transform my heart to be more like His.
Thank you Lord for loving me enough to send me. I'm blessed, and I'm honored.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
