Let the fundraising begin!  I sent a bunch of letters out about a week and a half ago, and I have a bunch of emailing and facebook messaging to do also.  Who knew that raising $15,500 might be a bit of work?!

But, God has already been blessing me so much in this process.  After I sent my letters, I checked my fundraising account (mostly to make sure my $150 deposit was still showing), and I was shocked to see that 3 people had already donated!  I hadn’t even asked yet!

And then it just hit me – what a significant responsibility it is to receive money from people knowing that they trust you to be responsible with it.  And also, what a wonderful feeling to know that I have confidence that God is SO big and SO real in my life and SO powerful that He WILL use me to make a difference in the world.  I just know it.  I’m overflowing with joy right now just thinking about the ways He plans to use ME

And yet,I feel so ordinary.  I don’t even feel worthy of the time you’re taking to read this right now. What do I really have to offer?  What difference can I make in this world that has so much wrong with it?

But then I remember, it’s not about me.  My God is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving and cares about every hair on my head (Matthew 10:30). He is the one narrating my story.

He is the creator of it all, and He chose to make each of us in His own image (Genesis 1:27).  He has a good and perfect plan for each of our lives (Jeremiah 29:11). All in Ephesians 1 we see that He chose us, redeemed us, forgave us, lavished grace on us, and made us sons and daughters.  In this story we’re all living, we are not the main character. God is.  And I thank God for that!

I can confidently receive financial support for this mission trip and know that the weight and responsibility of it is not in my hands alone. It’s in God’s. God is active in my life and He will lead me and guide me to make the world a better place.  So rest assured, your money will be well spent.  And I hope and am already praying that YOU will be encouraged along the way too!
