Hello all! We have dived into month two of ministry here in Swaziland and I wanted to share a list of some things that are different about Swazi that I didn’t expect, things that I love, or just general differences. Enjoy!

  1. Having to look the opposite way when I cross the street. (If I look at all. Sorry Mom and Dad. Also sorry Stephanie).
  2. How relational the people are on the streets, grocery stores, malls etc.
  3. The high green mountains that surrounds the city.
  4. The amazing drive from South Africa Into Swaziland. I could literally drive it 100 times and never get tired of the views.
  5. We walk everywhere up the very steep hills.
  6. I haven’t come across anyone who hasn’t spoken good enough English for me to have a conversation with them.
  7. Hand washing my laundry has become a way of life much faster than I thought it would.
  8. Being surrounded by 4 year olds doing a group hug on a rainy day in Africa is actually not that bad.
  9. Being mistaken for a South African is normal to me now.
  10. Being abroad for all of two months has made me want to know another language because I’m tired of the tsk tsk I get when people learn I only know one.

Love,

Alisha
